关闭內州监狱列入国家史记名录

赌城天天报讯，已關閉的內州監獄（Nevada State Prison）於上週五給國家公園管理局列入國家史蹟名錄（National Register of Historic Places）。

# j9 l, u. a! u! a9 |( i; Z( R監獄是內州歷史最悠久的監獄之一，在1862年在卡森城（Carson City）建立，是為內州領土監獄（Nevada Territorial Prison），它是內州19世紀中期發展的最早標誌之一。根據內州保育和自然資源部（Department of Conservation and Natural Resources）所提供的資料，雖然該監獄自1862年起重建了數次，該監獄見證了一個半世紀的歷史。該監獄的前身是一個小型度假村，由Abraham Curry於1861年建立。Curry的Warm Springs Hotel成為首個領土監獄，直至1864年，當時Curry把其賣掉，而當時內州亦正式建州。在1800年代餘下的日子，該內州監獄因火警和囚犯數目增多而經歷數度變遷，一些監獄最有名的特色遺憾不再復見。1924年2月8日，內州成為首個利用氣體處決罪犯的州份，當時給認為是以殘酷程度較低的方法執行死刑。該監獄於20世紀的餘下日子仍然開放，但因預算削減措施而於2012年關閉。在2015年，內州立法會通過議會法案第377號，建立保育該監獄作文化用途的規定。
